I have completed my fourth year at my university, successfully accomplishing a semester project on information security,
titled: Network Steganography Using the Overflow Field of Timestamp Option in IPv4 Packets.
Abstract
By embedding data in this typically unused and often overlooked field in traditional network traffic analysis, I ensure minimal detection risk and preserve network performance. To implement this technique, I developed an application using the Python programming language and leveraged Scapy library for crafting, analyzing, and manipulating network packets.
This technique offers significant benefits to information security, including enhanced covert communication capabilities within the existing network infrastructure, fortified defenses against data exfiltration attacks, and effective bandwidth of 20 bits per packet.
Additionally, this approach extends the boundaries of network steganography and serves as a foundation for future studies aimed at advancing covert communication and data protection strategies.
